My experience in counseling started in the Maryland Correctional system over 30 years ago. I have also worked in different social service agencies, including a crisis center, a counseling center and a VA hospital, and have given my time to volunteer services. My most recent agency involvement was as a Medical Social Worker with a local hospice provider. I was intensely involved with patients and families as people faced end of life issues. Eventually, I was in charge of bereavement services for the agency. I maintained a private practice at the same time, counseling individuals and couples dealing with a variety of emotional and psychological problems. That practice is now my sole emphasis.

I hold myself to the highest standards of my profession. Along with maintaining my awareness and understanding of different trends and techniques, I am also in pursuit of my own personal growth and development. The colleagues that I respect consider themselves, not as being above or apart from anyone else, but as “the most experienced client in the room.” Therapy should feel like a collaboration, a working together toward an authentic self. This is a powerful process, worthy of time and attention.
